Public input vital for strategic plan

I am excited to report that we will begin our first steps toward developing a new strategic plan. The Staples Motley School Board has hired Minnesota School Board Association’s (MSBA) Strategic Planning Services to facilitate the process.

Public input is vital in helping to develop a strategic plan. Community members and parents will have two options to share input. Throughout the month of November, we will invite stakeholders to complete a survey on our website. Paper copies will be available at different sites throughout both communities. We will also hold listening sessions in each community on Thursday, Nov.. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Staples Motley High School cafeteria and the Motley Staples Middle School cafeteria. MSBA will provide a facilitator for each site. We will be asking for stakeholders’ thoughts on: community values; strengths and challenges; significant issues they would like the district to address in the next five years; and their vision for the educational future of our youth and schools. The planning process will then continue with the development of belief statements, vision, mission, goals, action steps and evaluation measures.

With the beginning of 2016, we anticipate that the strategic plan will be ready for implementation. This will be a living document that will be referenced often to ensure consistencies between schools and communities.

Don’t let this opportunity pass by - attend one of these sessions and/or fill out a survey when it becomes available. Make sure your voice and perspectives are reflected in our planning for our students’ futures.
