Welcome back!

Greetings, parents and students of Staples Motley High School. The school has been a bee- hive of activity with the cleaning and poli shing of classr ooms and halls, a new gym floor, rem odel- ing bathr ooms and the concession stand, planning schedules and getting ready for our fall sports season. We hope you had a wonderful vacation and are looking forward, with eagerness, to the 2010- 11 school year.

Not only am I the “new kid” on the block but we also welcome Ms. Erika Johnston as our new Science teacher and Mr. Evan Meece in the Math department this coming year. Both have been in the building looking over classroom space, checking schedules, reading the handbook and familiarizing themselves with the building.

Please note that our annual “Kickoff Night” will be held on Sept. 1, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Centennial Lane. This event has become your opportunity to pick up your schedule, if you are a freshman, greet teachers, explore the various extra curricular activities we offer, fill your card with stamps for a drawing and enjoy ice cream. There will also be student tour guides available if you wish to tour the building. We will also offer individual sessions in the use of Family Web Access. With a personalized login and password you can daily keep track of your lunch account, your child’s attendance and email teachers with your concerns.

The counselors are now in to help with any scheduling needs your student may have. We do ask that you call ahead for an appointment. Available times are between 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. Special arrangements can be made for later times but you must call first.

Mark your calenders: Tuesday, Sept. 7 is the first day of school for incoming

freshman, and new students,

Wednesday, Sept. 8 –first day for grades 10-12

Homecoming week Sept. 20-24. Bratfest - Friday Sept. 24 followed by the homecoming football game.

If you have any concerns or questions do not hesitate to call the high school office: 218-894-2431.
